It’s strange to say, but when I experience above board customer service, it feels odd. I appreciated Greg’s customer service tone in person & via text; extremely polite & friendly; and provided good follow up with status text messages. I’ve owned my Honda for 22yrs now; initially I brought my car to the dealership for maintenance & repairs; the staff/team has always been professional.

I will never come here again.
I recently got a smog check & two recall issues came up for my car. The mechanic told me I can go to any Honda to get them replaced at no charge. There were a couple of options around the city, but I decided to go to this location because it was about a 20 minute walk from my place--worst decision ever.
I swung by on Thursday & asked for the next available appointment for the recall issues. The Honda representative, Tyrone Pratt, said there was an opening at 7:30 am on Monday. I asked about how long the service would take, & he replied about 4-5 hours. I figured getting my day started early & getting the car back around 12-1 pm would work with my schedule. I agreed to the appointment & left.
I arrived a little before 7:30 am on Monday & walked to the front door. It was locked & no one was inside. I looked on Yelp to confirm opening was at 7:30 am. I figured the person opening was running a little late, so I just stood at the door & waited. Boy, was I naïve. During my wait, another 4-5 patrons showed up.
By 8:00 am, a pickup truck with the Honda logo showed up. The man got out & started smoking a cigarette. I overheard him tell the male patron nearby something about traffic. Once he finished his cigarette, he got back into the truck.
At 8:19 am, I had had enough & called the Honda on Folsom Street to see if they had any availability to take my car in. The representative on the phone was present, apologized for what was going on at the 9th Avenue location, & said he'll help me look into what was going on. He got back on the line momentarily & said the person opening would arrive shortly & apologized again.
At around 8:30 am, the person in charge of opening the shop arrived. He never apologized once. I also realized he was the representative who booked my appointment. I got my car checked in & left to finally start my day.
I wish I could say that's where the unprofessionalism & extremely poor customer service ended. I received a text from Tyrone through Honda who was checking in & asked if I had any questions or concerns. I asked about timing & noted I was previously told it would be done by 12-1 pm. Tyrone responded with, "It should be right around there. We are still waiting for one more part to come in to put it all back together."
I checked in again at 1:06 pm & asked if the car would be done by 1:30 pm. Tyrone replied that the car should be wrapped up around 2-2:30 pm. I texted back & said, "Ok thanks, I'll plan to be there at 2:30 pm. Please let me know if there are any delays."
I arrived at Honda at 2:36 pm & said I was there to pick up my car. I was met with Tyrone. He looked uncomfortable, walked away to chat with the mechanic working on my car, & came back to tell me it would be another 20-30 minutes. I left fuming.
I finally got my car at 3:20 pm.
I do appreciate the other Honda representative working the front & the mechanic working on my car who both apologized for the delays. Thank you.
Tyrone, on the other hand, really needs to learn how to conduct matters with more professionalism. Extremely bad look on Honda & all of the workers at this location. How absolutely unfortunate. My service was at no cost, but I can only imagine how those who paid for this level of unprofessionalism feel. Maybe Tyrone did not feel a need to provide me with decent customer service or an apology because I was not being charged. But I hope that is not how Honda provides service to Honda owners in general.
