Very surprised to have to pay for a new speed sensor. The vehicle has only 1200 miles on it. They said it appeared like a rodent chewed or something. I Have the part and it looks like it was nicked. They said it could not be covered under warranty because it might have been a rodent, but they have no idea.
When we saw the problem originally, we googled it, and there are posts all over the web about the same problem on Honda pilot with under 5000 miles. Everyone on the web said that theirs Was covered by their new vehicle warranty. Pretty frustrating that they charged for this type of thing that they didn’t even know what caused it. This was the second vehicle purchased at this dealer in 14 months. I would have thought that a company with the reputation Honda has would have taken care of it when I’ve spent over $100,000 (plus a ton of the dealer level add ons) at their dealership in the last 14 months to bring a customer back for their next car purchase or to recommend the dealer or service department.
In All fairness to Drew, he was professional and Explained the issue, but I think the service department or technician put him in a bad spot from a customer service perspective. He personally did well handling things, however, the overall situation is not right.
