EVERYONE I met at Kirby was helpful, personable, and HAPPY! (It was obvious they love their jobs and the company.) Jason in particular was über-pleasant and extremely professional, taking the time to explain everything that would be done and providing a very accurate estimate of how long it would take. What a marvelous asset he is to Kirby! I am 100% pleased with Kirby's service department; the only thing I'd change is the location--I suppose relocating to Santa Barbara is out of the question?????(kidding!)

Jason - my service rep - handled my repair quickly, efficiently, and with complete care. He is patient, understanding, and I'm pleased with my interaction with him.
However, my experience during my initial call was not nearly as pleasant. The reason I needed service was to address a radio issue on a 2018 Outback 3.6 with 8,000 miles. The car is 7 months old. The Harmon Karmon system has periodically locked up several times, prompting 5-6 phone calls to get the radio operational again.
When I phoned (again) to talk with one of your technicians, Gabby informed me that there is an update to the software that needed to be installed and to bring the car in ASAP lest the battery would drain overnight. Since I was just in for the 6,000 mile service the month before, I asked why the update wasn't done then.
"Because you brought the car in for an oil change, Mr. Freeman". Well, no, I didn't, I brought the car in for its first 6,000 mile service. My expectation is that your technicians would give the car a complete diagnostic check, not just an oil change, and fix all known issues.
I'm not happy because I feel that the Harmon Kardon problems are effecting other customers, not just me, and that you all have been aware of them. I'm also not happy to have my issues summarily dismissed by Gabby, who suggested I was in the wrong because I brought the car in for an "oil change" and didn't ask to have the radio addressed.
I bought a brand new car in February from Kirby (my second within two years) and paid for an extended warranty. To be told that I need to drop everything, leave work, and have the car addressed immediately, when you guys could have addressed this during the 6,000 mile service, is disappointing.
When I phone to ask if there is something I can do to reset the radio so that it doesn't drain the battery, invariably there is not a knowledgeable technician there to speak with. I have to wait on hold, get transferred to someone in service, only to get their voice mail. When this pattern repeats itself 3x until I get a live person on the phone (Gabby), it's beyond frustrating to then receive a curt, surly reply that it's me that failed to get the problem addressed.
I think you guys can do much better.
