Submitted a same day online appt. arrived about 10 minutes early. Wasn’t busy and he handled my check-in very quickly. Went over price and mentioned it will be done in about an hour. When I came back, I only waited about 5 minutes and payment process was quick and my car was ready to go. He also asked if I had any questions. Thank you for an easy process!

So today was really interesting, frustrating and very irritating to say the least! I came in because I wanted to get my CVT transmission serviced. I arrive around 930, upon my arrival i was NEVER greater by anyone, no one approached my car asking how to help, mind you I was sitting in my car engine off driver door open waiting to be helped as this was my 1st time at Downey Nissan and I'm not familiar with their ways but usually, like at every other dealership I've been to, someone approaches you when you pull into the service lane (non appt or appt). So i waited in my car for a few minutes to see if anyone will recognize me, nope no one did, so I said to myself "ok let me get out the car and stand here then maybe they would see that I'm not sure where to go or to take my information and see my reason for the visit. Like they did for the OTHER customers that arrived BEFORE ME AND AFTER ME, I SAW SOMEONE APPROACH THE CAR AND TAKE THE INFORMATION. So I continue to stand there and no one even moves, its about 3 or 4 workers at the station, i make eye contact with 2 individuals at separate occasions but still no one approaches. By this point its been about 20 mins since I arrived and have YET TO BE HELPED. SO I walk over to the station, still no one asks "how may I help you" they all continue to hold a conversation and act as if im not standing there. Finally a guy asks me how can he me. This guy was on a phone call while the others just stood there chatting and not assisting. So then I go in and they go over my car situation, I told them I wanted to get my cvt serviced but he mentioned I should get the check enegine light and oil change taken care of 1st, then they will let me know if I still wanted to go through with the cvt service. I agreed, and he told me it would be ready around 2pm, I then ask for a ride home and he said I lived too far because I stay in Gardena, I believe he said it had to be within 7mile radius, i said ok ill just wait then. Its now 10 something and I'm sitting in the lobby waiting. Then around 1130, the gentlemen who helped me comes out to explain the reason for the check engine, something to do with fuel injector and that would need service and went over the price. I agreed and he said ok then left, since he didn't speak on any new time frame I was under the assumption that the 2pm still stood for the car to be ready. So im patiently waiting In the lobby until 2pm!!! No one has come to me to give any updates or anything in regards to my car. I go out and ask the guy at the counter how much longer because the guy said 2pm and its now 210, he then checks the system and says it looks like it will be ready in a few minutes. At this point im frustrated and starting to get irritated because no one has been in communication with me and I've been just sitting here since 10! So i go sit back down and wait. I continue to wait until 305 and now I'm very irritated because he just said it would be a few minutes at 2pm and now its been another HOUR! I go ask the counter AGAIN, whats going on because I was told 2pm 1st then was told it would be a few minutes and now its been another hour, by this point, I'm getting pissed, I have been in the lobby sitting, haven't eaten anything, since 10AM! No one has communicated anything with me on whats taking so long to do just do an oil change and the fuel injector. So the guy checks the system again and then says its going to be another 45min or so until my car is ready. I immediately ask for the manager because im very upset and this is not the way to treat a paying customer. A 1st time customer. What type of impression do you think this experience would leave? So I speak with the manager and he says he's going to look into it. He comes back and says there were some issues with the engine and they had to wait for it to cool and he couldn't finish the 1st time he started. I'm not sure specifically the wording that was used but whatever the reason was that reason was NEVER COMMUNICATED to me as I sat in the lobby waiting. Then he says it will be about 20min and it should be ready. He then ask if I wanted to wait and sit in the lobby, I said NO IVE BEEN SITTING IN THE LOBBY SINCE 10AM, LIKE I WORKED A SHIFT, ITS NOW PASS 3 IM DONE SITTING ILL WAIT OUTSIDE. Then finally I get the call that the car is ready, he goes over the situation and what happened and how there was no communication. Tells me the services that were preformed but then goes to say that they tried to do the tire rotation but COULDN'T PERFORM IT BECAUSE THEY DID NOT HAVE THE WHEEL LOCK! This absolutely PISSED ME OFF, because if someone would have communicated with me, I've been sitting in the lobby since 10, I would have told you its in the trunk and I can grab it for them, but since no one informed me on ANY SITUATION/UPDATES/CHANGES, I DID NOT GET THE TIRE ROTATION. How do you call that customer service? At that moment I then mentioned to him, the lock is in the trunk, he didnt say anything didnt offer to perform the service still or even offer a rain check! I just took my paper work and walked out. NOW I have to go take my car back another time and PAY for a tire rotation when it was suppose to be included in my service today. It even says it on the paperwork. Tire rotation not preformed because they didnt have the wheel lock. Well they also didnt bother to ask me about where the wheel lock was! This has been a horrible 1st experience at Downey Nissan! I DID NOT LEAVE THE DEALERSHIP UNTIL CLOSE TO 4PM. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE, TOTALLY FELT LIKE I was singeld out as a Black Man, I was the ONLY BLACK person there and every person besides me that came in, got servived and left before me. Just imagine you are the only black person there, the entire time, including workers, and every person who comes in to get service after you LEAVES BEFORE YOU!! I FELT SINGLED OUT. Felt like I wasn't a priority at all. I was literally waiting at their expense Is what I felt like. So you just let the black guy wait hrs up hrs to get service whe other people come and go receiving similar if not the same services! So disappointing! Thanks for the UNFORGETTABLE experience!
