I feel like there is an idea that consumers have endless supplies of money. In the winter, I brought my Honda Odyssey in for service. We paid for an expensive diagnostic to investigate a clicking that would occur while turning, and some other service also. Essentially the solution to the clicking was “let’s replace the engine mounts, and see what happens,” and I would have to come back if that didn’t work so they could try something else. (That I would have to pay more money for) The solution worked for a couple of months then the clicking continued. I didn’t have any more money for a new diagnostic so I didn’t bring it in. But when I brought my Odyssey in for an oil change and tire rotation they tell me that my tie rods need replacement. So I ask “would bad tie rods be a source of clicking?” The response was “it could be, we would have to make the repairs and if the clicking persists we’ll reassess and work to fix it”. Basically the tone here is “pay us money so you can pay us more money” and when I brought that up the tone was very dismissive. The service here, or lack thereof was enough for me to decide I’m not bringing my car back here. The tone was just the icing on the cake
