I brought my truck in for the 18 month service. I had called previously saying that a locking lug nut was missing, after my yearly tire rotation (I noticed it later). Between the service manager and the parts manager, they said they would order a new set and have them ready when I came in. When I got there, I asked April about it, she said nothing was in my record. She noted it, and I went to wait for my truck. When it was finished, I noticed that the new locking key didn't have the code card with it. When I went inside, Jeff (service manager) said it didn't matter, I could just use the same code to order a new key if I lost this one. I had to explain, and actually show with my old set, that the keys were different, and that's why there was a code assigned. While they were trying to figure it out, I noticed that the new locking lugs they had installed on my truck were chrome, while the originals, and all of the other lug nuts (and wheels) were black. I pointed it out to the service tech now working with me. He went and talked to Jeff again, then came back and told me that I could stay with the chrome locking lugs, go with all black non-locking lugs, or pay $50 for a set of new black locking lugs. It was getting more ridiculous by the minute. He finally came back and said that they would order a set of black locking lugs and that I would need to make another appointment when they come in. If the service manager can't understand something as simple as locking lug nuts having different patterns (that's the whole idea behind them), and thinks that five black lug nuts and one chrome lug nut is acceptable, should I really trust him and his team with anything more important? This isn't the first snafu I've had with your service department. I am quickly losing any faith in them.

I thought it would be a slow inspection to be thorough but it seemed to quicker than I thought. So I was used to a small repair shop and that wouldn’t be bad, however if you have kids or your retired and you have that nagging feeling to go back home these techs do try to get it done as soon as they can. I wasn’t use to “text updates” plus you get a list of what needs to be done. Toyota system tries to keep you in the loop of what’s happening.
