When I purchased this plan/warranty from Tim, it was talked up about this incredible service that will insure the protection of the paint as it is not just a “cover the surface” type of wax and that it is supposed to chemically react with the clear coat for ultimate protection for years. 999 dollars for this plan covering the inside and outside of the truck. When I scheduled the appointment, I was told in order to do a good job, it takes a large portion of the day so the appointment would need to be made at specific times to have enough time. Here are the events that transpired on the day of the appointment.
- phone call 2.5 hours after dropping it off that it was done. When I mentioned how I was told it would take a while and I was surprised how fast it was done, I was told “it usually takes 4 hours but we hurried and got it done for you! So go on ahead and get here as soon as you’d like and drive safe!” We dropped the vehicle off and were in no rush and with a service such as this- a rushed job doesn’t typically sound appealing. Especially when at drop off, it was quoted a 4 hour job, when making the appointment it was quoted a potentially longer day job and then on the phone again said it normally takes 4 hours.
- when we arrived to get the truck, we walked around it to see bugs all over the bumpers, mirrors, grime on several spots, drip spots near the back passenger siding and brush/grime marks all down the passenger side that resembled wax mixed with dirt. Several spots on the truck looked dirty- not the “mirror like shine” and clear coat protectant look we were sold when I bought this plan. Again, for 999 dollars.
-I asked my husband to go in and mention it and that I was going to call Tim and see if he could come out and look as well because that is not what is in the warranty contract or was what described to be sold at the time. The truck was brought back in to be looked at. Whomever he was speaking to at the time, mentioned they couldn’t see it and he needed to walk around pointing it out and then he was told “detailing is not sold with this plan”
At which point we asked “How can you apply a glass coat protectant when there is still dirt and bugs everywhere?” Something that is supposed to protect the paint and other aspects of the vehicle for years and comes with a warranty you sell with your vehicles, one would think would want to be done extremely well. The service person working with my husband at the time turned to the other service person and asked him if they do the bumper and he said “well yeah…” and at that point he seemed surprised at the unsatisfactory condition and at that point realized what we were talking about.
-The truck was taken back in to be redone and came back out looking 10000 percent different than the first time. Am I satisfied with how it looked the second time, moreso- yes. I wasn’t able to get out and look since we had little babies in the back of my car waiting that second time but from being in the car next to it, it looked one million times different. Am I satisfied with the fact it even had the chance to look like it did the first time and we were just going to be free to go? Absolutely not.
We have come to Toyota since we got our Highlander 5 years ago and have been very loyal since but this is the third incident similar where I have had to speak up about something to make it right and it wasn’t until I did that someone wanted to acknowledge it and make it right and that is upsetting. Is this how Toyota does business? 1000 dollars worth of a plan and work and the service department would have been fine letting it leave like that if someone wouldn’t have said anything? Then we were shown that in the matter of just sharing our thoughts respectfully, that service was and could have been done WAY better or maybe even correctly the first time? Now I am left to wonder and question if this warranty I spent money on is really worth it or will uphold what it says it will. Reading the contract and what I signed, it has all these pieces on how it is not in compliance if…. But if it wasn’t applied right in the first place, that instantly makes it all not valid. I’m not the professional, whatsoever. I bring my business, my hard earned money and valued time to Toyota to be able to trust the service and business you provide but after today and the events of my last two times there, I am not so sure this will continue.
I appreciate the taking in and fixing it when my husband asked today and the time to look at the unsatisfactory condition of the service- but have some major reserves about some things. I bought my husband this truck as a gift and this shouldn’t have been an experience to come with it. Thank you for reading this novel- but I truly do hope and believe that these are read and valued. I appreciate your time.

For the fourth time having my 2 Toyotas serviced at Toyota Tri-Cities (which I purchased there) I have had to wait and wait - one time 2 hours - beyond when y was told they would be ready. Not happy at all. Had to cancel an appointment today (which I've had to do before). At least today I got a "Sorry about that." Not happy at all

Today was a stressful day dealing with a dead battery caused by the IID recently installed in my vehicle. Raul and his team that I spoke with earlier today on the phone were courteous and compassionate about my situation. Despite not having a formal appointment time, they managed to fit me in and get a new battery installed in about an hour. Thank you Raul and Toyota of Tri-Cities staff for the excellent service!
