At 9am there was one car ahead of me at the service line waiting for someone to drive it in for service. I waited about 15 min for a young lady to be told by another employee to scan my vehicle. She seemed to be more concerned about her side conversations rather than helping customers. She had terrible side manners and failed to introduce herself. At 12pm I received a text message stating that your records showed I missed an appt at 9:41am. Interestingly I left my car at Toyota for service prior to that time. I called to check on the status of my car at 3pm because I didn’t receive a ca call or text message with a service report. Come to find out it hasn’t been worked on and was told it would take about another 45 min. Car was picked up at 4pm, but I received a call at 5:18pm stating a call was being returned. Maybe it was a busy day or maybe it wasn’t but your staff lacked professionalism and customer service skills.

Everyone there is very nice and accommodating so from that perspective everything is great. The issue I have is complex and Toyota isn’t interested in solving it. They do not empower their mechanics to solve problems outside of the lines, and that is very frustrating as a consumer.

The last service I ended up with a small ding on my windshield the odd part when I picked up my vehicle was that they had mentioned they switched the windshield wipers a few months later I had to go back for a oil change and they said I needed new windshield wipers. I mentioned I had just gotten new ones through them apparently it wasn’t recorded. They mentioned I had a tire puncture and that they could fix it for 30$ so I asked to get a new one instead . When I picked up my vehicle the chemical they used to put on my tire was all around my tire and it looked messy and dirty after I paid for a new tire what a disappointment for the second time after I bought the used vehicle there less than 7 months ago and to top it off now I also need new breaks and pads on the car ? When I haven’t even put more than 7k miles on it ? So confused disappointed and unsatisfied beyond sad to get that type of service in Santa Barbara !

SB Toyota Service on the other hand for the second time failed to meet customer service expectations. I’m used to a well oiled machine in a toyota service dept (multiple dealers in bay area). This service dept lacks sense of urgency and respect for customer time. The arrival que is abysmal with two lines of cars waiting into the street blocking traffic all the while what appeared to be a lead or supervisor sat in his stall talking about food with another employee.

Robert was great- kept in touch with me and kept me updated. Also very helpful in going through the report and helping me decide what had to be done that day. And what could wait for another time. Nothing to do with Robert- but the pricing on some of these simple items is so high and not affordable for most of us. I’ll have to go somewhere else to get some of these things fixed - for half the price!
