I purchased my car from Santa Barbara Toyota and have been only using Toyota for maintenance services for years since I purchased my car. I usually used the shuttle service after I dropped off my car and for picking up. This time when I scheduled my service, I was offered either I can wait there or I can get a ride and come pick it up later. I was never told once the shuttle service is no longer available. Once I was there, I told Forest that I wasn’t aware that there is no more shuttle services, otherwise I would have brought my computer and just wait there since I had to work. He wasn’t really trying to solve my concerns. Luckily the young guy who checked me in told me Toyota can offer me Uber voucher for a ride. I had to tell Forest and asked him more about how Uber voucher works myself since he seemed not interested in providing some form of customer service. Also the voucher is only one way. Justin was the guy who usually handled my services in the past and he had been great. I wish there is more consistency in customer service.

I was told I could wait while they made the extra key I was buying for my car b/c it wouldn’t take long. I had a 9:00 apt, arrived at 8:55 and waited until 10:00 before someone was available to get me started. The excuse I was given was that the service advisor I had been assigned to got delayed with a customer having a problem. And no one else could take care of me? Very bad management. Then I was informed that I must have a safety recall item I was unaware of taken care of that day, but it wouldn’t take long and they’d get right on it. It took until 11:48 to finish the “quick” work and the key wasn’t even cut properly! They cleverly had it in the ignition so I wouldn’t be aware of that - with the old key just sitting on the seat- really, you don’t hand things to people? Turns out only one side of the key is cut correctly so it doesn’t work if you flip it and I will have to play around with getting the key in the correct direction. The dealership should replace it with a key that is cut correctly but I don’t even want to deal with that service department again. When I talked to the service manager after being there for 2 hrs already he told me how they have the best record for getting to customers quickly - within 10 min. He did apologize and gave me a 20% discount- probably b/c he knew the key was messed up. He also told me no one should have told me it wouldn’t take long to make the key. It can take 1-2 hours he said b/c they have to contact Toyota and sometimes it just takes that long. Well that doesn’t reflect well on Toyota then, does it? Almost $400 for a key and they might need 2 hours to make it? Ridiculous.

The service was fine and efficient. Rachel communicated well and kept me informed of cost. However, I asked the day before if I could have a loaner. I was told there were none but maybe I could get a rental thru Toyota and someone would call me. My call was returned after my car had been services - way to late. Also, apparently, my wheels need to be "retorqued after 100 miles" after the service. This was printed on the invoice and not told to me verbally or explained ahead of time. I am about to take my car on a trip (1000 miles) and can't get back after 100 miles for this service. This should have been explained upfront.
