The process is backwards. If I turn in a truck for service I should get a truck for rental. If you don’t have a truck then an actual rental should be reimbursed automatically. The fact I have to get a separate rental and hope to get reimbursed is a terrible process you should approve or deny prior to turning my truck in so I’m case of denial I can reschedule my appointment so that I have a truck the whole time.

This work should have been covered by Ford! First off prior to my warranty expiring, I told them about my issue. They made a note but didn’t advise me about my warranty. Just said I needed to make a separate appointment. I called to get an appointment and it was 3 weeks to get one due to their availability(several weeks out) and my travel. In that time, I went over the 60,000 miles. But Aikens Ford was notified about the issue while still under warranty. It was in my records. Then, I show up at my appointment and am told I have to leave the truck for 4-5 days!!! No one had EVER mentioned that little detail. They had no loner vehicles until January! I am taking a trip hauling horses soon and couldn’t afford to have transmission issues hauling out of state. I could not be without a vehicle this week. I had to drive home (45 minute round trip), get my husband, arrange a rental vehicle. Overall this cost me 3 hours of my day and his. PLUS $220 in rental fees. Additionally, I didn’t hear a word about my vehicle. On Thursday I called and Mike told me he’d get back to me. He did and said the technician “would look at it today” and he thought I could get it Friday. So basically it sat there Monday thru Wednesday at Akins Ford not being touched while I was racking up rental car expenses. Akins Ford is the only group that has touched my vehicle. I have been satisfied with service up until now. I think I’m satisfied with the work. I’ll know more after I’ve driven it some. However I am totally upset about being $220 out of pocket for a rental, being completely unprepared to leave the vehicle for multiple days, and frankly for them not working with me on the warranty coverage for an issue that was reported prior to the warranty expiring. I am rethinking my allegiance to Aiken Ford. There are a couple of other Ford dealerships within reasonable distances. I can’t afford to wait 3 months for an appointment with a loaner whenever I have an issue nor can I afford to rent vehicles every time I have to take it in, especially on top of the service fees. Mike was fine. He communicated fine once I called and he was assigned to me. Wasn’t the person that originally checked me in though. He was accommodating when I asked to also have a new battery put in (goodness knows I wasn’t going to rent another car to do that).

Steve is no longer with Akins ford I was told. Another gentleman named Charles to over his phone. The issue was never resolved with the passenger running board. I sent Charles several text messages showing the repairs we not completed. He all the sudden stopped answering the phone and never followed up.
