I haven’t had the best experiences at Honda of Oakland Service Department, but Hong was able to answer my questions and try to address the issue at hand despite me being unsettled by the whole situation. He did a great job in his role. My car issue wasn’t resolved, but will be in the future once the requirements are met in order to perform diagnostics and take care of the covered extended warranty repair.

I called six times and texted three times to try to find out the diagnosis for my car but did not get a call until 4 p.m. The service department lady threatened to send me to voice mail after I complained about only getting voice mail and wanting to talk to a live person. One star service.

I would need to write an essay. In December, I stopped in and an advisor told me I was up to date on my service needs (other than oil). This week, Was told I hadn’t had any services done (not true). Told I needed transmission fluid and brake fluid changed (just did this at Honda in 2022). Checklist also indicated urgent need. (Red boxes) In June, these boxes were green. Also indicated no charge on a battery I had replaced not long ago at Honda. I called repeatedly yesterday to ask for explanation and no one returned my calls. I will not be back.

I called 4 times over the course of several weeks to find out if the problem I had was under warranty. I dealt with holds, hang ups, people who took messages and said they’d call back but didn’t. Then when I finally got someone I felt like I was hoodwinked. I was told there was no guarantee re warranty, (which seemed unlikely) they’d have to look at it and assess. Fine. I was told I could have an appt right away and wait for the car. When I got there I was told I could not wait for the car, a nd it would cost $260 to diagnose the issue, and it would not be done that day. I think I was hoodwinked and should have been told that — in the phone— weeks ago when I first called. I was furious. As it turned out, they said it was covered, but it was not fixed yet. That’s good that it’s covered, but I’m still steamed at how I was treated. Bad business.
