I had a terrible experience with John Su regarding my car’s transmission repair. This was the second time it broke down, and while the repair was done under warranty, I faced multiple issues with communication. I was never informed that I was entitled to a loaner vehicle due to a manufacturing defect. John Su submitted the necessary paperwork late and was unresponsive to my calls and emails. I had to drive 35 minutes to the dealer for updates, and the repair took 2 months. Although the car is working fine now, the service I received was disappointing.

Sherry was really helpful. I appreciated her updating me on her day off and being responsive when I messaged her. One frustration I had was the lack of ease when calling the service department. My calls were not returned. My case manager from Hyundai Consumer Affairs was also unable to get a hold of anyone after three attempts and messages. When I contacted Sherry the next day, she was able to help me and called my case manager. This has been a consistent challenge every time I had brought my car in.

Dear Hyundai Team,
I recently had the opportunity to work with Sherry during my car maintenance appointment. She was cordial and professional throughout the process, and I appreciate her efforts. However, I do feel that there was a general lack of transparency regarding the status and handling of my vehicle's maintenance.
I initially came in to have my battery replaced after AAA technicians informed me that the battery at a point where it needed replacement because he tested the battery's health is at 0% and cranking health at 13%. However, instead of replacing it, the service department just charged the battery to 80%. When I inquired about the battery’s initial charge level to better understand the diagnosis, Sherry was unable to provide that information, which left me with unresolved questions.
Additionally, I asked for clarification about the Vehicle Service Contract I purchased for $3,500 and how it would function once my complimentary maintenance plan ends. Sherry informed me that the contract is handled by a third-party provider and not by Hyundai’s service department. This was confusing, as I was under the impression that the extended service plan was directly tied to Hyundai’s servicing when I made the purchase.
Lastly, I scheduled this appointment to refill my tires with nitrogen, another optional service I purchased during car's point of sale. Unfortunately, I was informed that the service department no longer provides nitrogen refills, despite being told at the time of purchase that I would always be able to get my tires refilled with nitrogen. While I understand this situation may not fall on Sherry personally, it does reflect poorly on Hyundai’s business practices and the consistency of service expectations.
I will be contacting the Hyundai store directly to seek clarification on these issues, but I felt it was important to provide this feedback as these experiences impact customer trust and satisfaction.
