From the beginning the service advisor gave me a wrong estimate on price and the parts needed for the repairs. I was told it required a gasket to fix the leak on the intake manifold. I came back on the due date and the service advisor told me that they had to replace the whole intake manifold. The part was replace without my authorization. I accepted and took the truck home. But after a trip my family and I took to Modesto, the check engine light came on. I tried to use a scanner from autozone to find out what the code was, but it would not show on the scanner. I found out what the code was when I took the truck for a smoke test. The guy performing the smoke test showed me that the egr valve vacuum hose was left disconnected. He put it back on the egr valve and the engine shutdown. He asked if I had any service done to the truck and I told him “ yes , I had the intake manifold replaced by Ford” and he replied “ they did a **** job” and recommended me to take it back for them to fix it. I made an appointment so Ford service department would take a second look at their work. The operator was helpful and scheduled me for the inspection. I got to the service department and I was greeted by Dan DiGiovanni. I asked him if he remembered me and replied yes and then told me “ I’m only doing this because the operator had already agreed to do the inspection” Which i found very rude. He asked me if I had any oil change done and I replied “yes”. He said that maybe during the oil change the mechanics did something. I said no the egr system is connected to the intake manifold which you guys replaced and I want to make sure you guys put everything back together correctly before I start expending more on repairs. The inspection was done and they found out that the vacuum hoses to the egr valve and fuel pressure were hooked up wrong and they swapped the hose to fix the problem. I requested to talk to a manager to get a refund for the fail smoke test because it was The service department’s fault the egr lines going to the intake manifold were hooked wrong which made the smoke test fail. Before the manager came to talk to me, Don DiGiovanni came to me and told me “ no, you will not get a refund for the smoke test”. He said they were not responsible for the hoses that were hooked up wrong Implying it was done by someone else. No one else had service the truck but Ford’s service department. He pretty much called me a lair. I deeply regret ever taking my wife’s truck to AV Ford service department. I wish I had never trusted Don DiGiovanni with my family’s safety. I will never be going back to AV Ford service department.
