I came in to do my 10k maintence on my RAV4 Prime. It’s the only RAV4 Prime you maintence at this dealership because you don’t sell the car. I noticed before I came in a slight unnoticeable bludgeoning in one of the tires. There is no signs of any damage from the tire hitting anything on the wheel or tire. The tire has no wear also. The service advisor instructed me to call Toyota care as the service adviser was calling it road hazard but again I didn’t hit anything and I believed it was a manufacturing issue. Toyota care agreed with me and gave me a case number to replace the tire. The service advisor said he would get the tire ordered and replaced. Then when I picked up the car the service advisor changed his mind and said he called Toyota care and they aren’t doing it with a different story. So I called Toyota care infront of him and they said they would replace the tire and that the service adviser was incorrect. They told the service adviser to contact the Yokohama and the distributor to handle it. They told me I have to do nothing and I would get the tire replaced. While standing in-front of the service advisor listening he called Yokohama about getting the tire replaced. At first the representative was telling him how to replace it then the service advisor said it was road hazard and my fault so she changed her tune saying they won’t replace it. I was talking over him because what he told them was incorrect. So they said to take the tire off the car and mail it to them so they can evaluate it which is totally impractical. Which is obviously just a deterrent to avoid paying to replace the brand new tire. He called the distributor and they told him the process to do a warranty claim but the service advisor was still stuck on that I damaged the tire even though there is no signs of any proof it was a road hazard issue. I’m also kissed off that I bought every warranty Toyota has to offer for the car and to think Toyota does have a road hazard warranty on the tires they put on new cars is nuts. When I put new tires I always pay the $10 extra per tire for road hazard but again I didn’t hit anything that would cause a bubble to start to form. In order for a bubble to for on a tire it would have to be a significant hit to the tire. There would also be so signs of a hit to the tire or wheel. There is none whatsoever on the tire JUST the opinion of the service advisor. After spending thousands of dollars for all the Toyota extended warranties and talking to Toyota customer care 2 times on long waits with one in front of the service advisor proving that Toyota told him to replace the tire and I had to do nothing else. Well I feel the service advisor intentionally did not want to warranty the tire and chose words to talk to the people trust would get it done in the light that it was my fault and a road hazard issue and I need to pay $400 to replace the brand new unworn 7/32 tread tire that has no signs of hitting anything that I know I didn’t damage the tire. I am not able to go to the dealership in CT that I bought the car from that profited from the sale because I live in Texas and it’s impractical so I’m not going to get all the lifetime maintained etc.. that was a perk from them either. Toyota with their ZEV only states made buying the car difficult and the experiences with dealerships today have been a total let down. I like the car itself but so far buying every warranty at the highest levels of coverage hasn’t panned out and known that Toyota Care was on my side and the service advisor wasn’t by using his opinion to avoid warranting the tire made for an entire day of absolute misery at the dealership just for them to give my car a oil change and tire rotation. I wasn’t even offered a water while I was there. My other cars are BMWs so I guess I’m used to high end customer service and appreciation. From my experience buying the Brand New 350z in 2003 with Nissan it seems it’s the same with Toyota. If you buy the most expensive product they sell you get below average customer service compared to Luxury dealerships. Basically at Luxury dealerships if you spend $58,000 on a new car they treat you just like you spent $150k at the dealership but if you spend $58,000 at a dealership that normally sells $30k cars well your treated like the average Joe and the service advisor will haggle you for every warranty claim. I thought that I could avoid this problem with Toyota by buying every warranty they have to offer but it appears I was wrong. The main issue I had with the advisor is he said he was gonna replace the tire because Toyota care rep told me not once but twice that they would replace it. One time was done so the Toyota rep was able to talk to him while I was listening in front of him. The advisor made every effort to discredit saying it was a road hazard claim, which it wasn’t, I told him even though he agreed and took pictures that there is no signs on the wheel or tire of the tire hitting anything that would cause a bulge to form. Again the experience was not good and the thought of going to the dealership for any work is dreadful and seems like it will be a fight even though I intentionally bought every too of line warranty Toyota was able to sell me and Toyota Customer Care that the advisor told me to call took my side and told the advisor to replace not one time but twice. Longo is the closest location to my house in West Frisco but there is also the Toyota of Plano next to Toyota HQ where the executives that visit the Bar/ Restaurant I owned helped me get the RAV4 Prime in the first place, so I have options of dealerships. Longo is just a little closer of a drive:
