I consistently come to Heartland Toyota for all my service needs. I have been doing so since I bought my Toyota back in 2015. If I have an issue with it I bring it to you guys. If I need service done to it, I bring it to you guys. I get my oil change every few months with exclusively you guys, while I know other places will charge me less to do it, because I trust you guys. You guys fixed my driveshaft, you guys helped me fix my catalytic converters by directing me to muffler place that could fi it, you always greet me with warm smiles and great service and that's why I return. You've been really good to me, and I tell everybody that too. You usually show equal investment in helping me resolve my issues. Today I felt like that service was lacking.
My 4Runner has a few lingering issues I know about, but recently I took it in due to my check engine light coming on and after taking it to an auto parts store they gave me a bunch of error codes. I'm not a mechanic. I can do minor maintenance things like belts, or brakes, the occasional sensor. So with 4-5 different error codes I figured I'd have it looked at as it was nearing the time to get my oil changed anyways. The initial service was great as usual no issue. The service was completed in a timely fashion, it takes time to run a diagnostic, I get that. Mark eventually came out and told me all the issues they had discovered. There was a lot. They were all very expensive repairs. I was a bit shocked. It was in the range of $6000.
That's not exactly great news to hear, and I felt very despaired. Once again though that's not an issue with you guys, that's just what's wrong with my car. Not on you at all. One of the concerning issues that was mentioned was that I had a radiator leak. When I asked Mark about that, like what else he knew about it, as we were finishing our paperwork, he could not elaborate. Now that's a pretty critical issue to the driveability of my vehicle, like are we talking a major crack? A pinhole? My 4Runner is my only means of transportation I need to know these things. In Mark's defense I could have pressed him more on the matter and should have, but I was already frustrated, not because of him, but because I have to decide to whether fix these issues or trade in my vehicle. It was foolish of me not to ask him more but I didn't think about it. At the same time he should have given me a more in depth analysis of the various issues, show me the leak, show me these problems so I can understand them and know what I'm paying you guys for. In the past you guys showed me the crack on my muffler, or went in depth with possible solutions I could pursue. That didn't happen this time. Maybe Mark was trying to do that by telling me that the repairs probably aren't worth it, based on the vehicle's selling value. And he's probably right. I work customer service too, I know you don't always have all the answers, I know you have good and bad days and moments of forgetfulness. It happens. But direct me to somebody who can give me answers! Either way I took the vehicle to you guys because I trust you to help me fix it, because I lack the ability to do it myself, I'm paying for your service and know how, and today I felt like I was not given the proper dedication and investment in my problems that I usually get from the service department. Please understand I'm not trying to be that a-hole customer who is complaing just to complain, I just need more information on what's wrong with my vehicle and what can be done to fix it.
