I brought my 2014 Tundra in for a front end shimmy at highway speed. Additionally, I requested the rubber weather stripping on the roof on both sides be inspected and fixed since it looked like they were separating from the rear part and the passenger side had come off during a recent wash. I also asked that the front kick panel be put back on since I wasn’t able to get it back on after installing a trailer brake controller harness. I requested Mike Dunlap to be the tech to look at and/or make the repairs. I waited 3 hours for the service rep to tell me the technician “balanced” the tires (which cost me $50). He assured me the tech took it for a test drive after and it had corrected the problem. He then told me that it would cost me an additional $50 to update the nav/radio so that it would properly sync with the new IOS, something I’ve never had to pay for before. I bought the best warranty this dealership offered in 2014 to INCLUDE all the electronics these vehicles have on them. So, I’m a little irritated when a service rep tells me I’ll be charged for a Toyota proprietary update that I can’t do myself and I wasn’t charged for previously. So, when I finally get to the service desk to leave I’m told by the rep that Mike Dunlap didn’t work on my truck like I had requested, the tires had been balanced, the weather stripping “looked fine” but hadn’t been addressed, and the tech “couldn’t find” the kick panel. To me this is unacceptable especially considering the prices you pay for the vehicle, warranty, and service on them. It wasn’t until I went and talked to Mike that he at least helped me with my kick panel. He explained to me that he was buried with jobs and apologized for not being able to look at my truck. He did take time out of his busy day to address a small issue like a kick panel which I appreciate and why I only trust him to work on my truck. After all was said and done I drove home and guess what? The shimmy was still there. So, I would like to be reimbursed for the $50 for the balancing of my tires and schedule a new appointment where ONLY Mike Dunlap touches my truck. It is painfully obvious to me that he’s the only one I can trust at your dealership to do the job right and go out of his way despite being busy to try and make corrections.
