I asked for a car wash, I was told it was warm enough, that would be fine! It was never washed! I had to go to the counter because it had already been an hour and a half to see when my car would be done… he said oh, it’s done, I’ve been busy with other customers. He didn’t explain anything to me when he handed me the “big book of info” about my car… in fact I had to ask is there anything I need to know without reading this huge report? He looked at his screen and said something about the tires and the back window washer… I felt like I was a distraction! It was my first time to this dealership and my first service as a Volvo owner.. truly not how I expected to be treated! And there was also a crazy man yelling to everyone not to buy your car from this place and yelling at your employees… it was really and awful 90+ minutes.. I think I’ll go to jiffy lube next time!

I will never ever buy another car from McGrath again!! Your service department is terrible, except Mark, they don't answer the phone ever. I have had this car for a year and a half and have had the same problem since day one with it and they wanted to charge me to fix it this time. The car is a piece of junk and the dealership is even worse. I do alot of work in Barrington and I make a point of telling everyone I know to not go to your facility!!!

Told initial repair was $600. Then told there were additional items that needed repair. Told it would cost $3000. When I asked him to itemize what each specific repair would cost (so I could decide which ones I could afford to do and which ones would have to wait) he didn't know. Seemed shady.. At best, he was inexperienced and at worst, he was trying to pull a fast one. I asked about applying the coupon I had (15% off parts and labor). He said yes and that it would bring the price down by $450. I knew the coupon had a limit of $150 off and had to tell him. I made him ask his supervisor about combining it with a $10 coupon. He was annoyed but I insisted. When he returned to the phone,he said he miscalculated the estimate and that instead of $3000 it would be $2000. No apology. He still couldn't itemize what repair cost what. Then he said with the additional coupon, my total cost would be around $1900 (including tax). I reluctantly agreed. I asked when the car would be done. He said it would be done the same day. I doubted it because there were several repairs to be done but he was certain. He called at the end of the day and said it wouldn't be done til tomorrow. No apology. The next morning, I arrived to get my car. He gave me a paper to sign. I signed it and asked what I was signing. He said it was the bill/total cost. He then gave me my bill with the final cost and it was $2300+, not $1900. Why did he give me something to sign without telling me what it was and without letting me see the preceding papers?? I was shocked and angry that he had me sign an acknowledgement of a bill for $2300. So I had to tell (trying to control my frustration) him what he said less than 12 hours ago. He recalculated things and said, "oh, I see what I did wrong" and said the total was $1978. No apology. I felt insulted (is he trying to trick me because I'm a woman?) and complete mistrust. I have been with this company when it was Barrington Volvo and stayed when it became McGrath Volvo. I will do everything I can to find another Volvo dealership/service department. Oh, and please provide him with a face mask. He wasn't wearing one and said matter of factly that he forgot it at home and that McGrath Volvo doesn't have any that he can use. I suspect he's new and inexperienced because someone ended up giving him a box of masks. Everyone makes mistakes but at least he should be regretful and try to stay professional.

It took some diagnostic genius to determine I had an old and no longer used HUM device inserted into my car which was training the battery and disrupting my remote key fob to lock and lock the car. But it was found and mystery solved. Thank you Mcgrath Volvo!!

Mark provided answers to all questions and made sure I was involved in the day to day repairs. He made sure I was aware of where the vehicle was at maintenance wise each day it was in the shop. His team provided excellent service and a professional attitude. The mechanic on his team went above and beyond for me taking his time to find the issue and not just resolve 1 but 5 separate issues with the same fix. I went in with a vehicle that had no working warning lights, no driver side power control, locks wouldn't work, radio would come on and off, power seats didn't work, and water got in through a seam in the windshield. His technician was able to identify and resolve the issues by finding the corroded wires and busses in the vehicle and repair them. Thank you for hiring such a great service team.

I waited 2.5 hours (with an appointment for which I arrived on time) to have a simple nail removed from one tire. I never received any updates via text, despite a text telling me I would. I checked in once, around two hours, and was met with indifference. When I finally collected my car, it was covered with a lot of snow. Considering the snowfall I sadly watched for the prior 2.5 hours of my life, the car sat for a very long time.
