I brought my van in because I have been having issues with the transmission slipping while driving. It has 59,000 miles and I brought it in for the same issue before, but the mechanic could not feel the slip while on the test drive.
So, the problem has been getting worse over time. It now happens quite frequently and is annoying. I decided that since I bought the 100,000 mile extended bumper to bumper warranty, that it was time to have the issue looked at again.
This time, the mechanic did feel the slip and acknowledged that the transmission is starting to fail. However, the warranty that I purchased will only cover the transmission if it fails completely and will not cover repair to damaged or failing systems. I’m pretty sure that was not in the sales pitch for this wonderful warantee that will cover all the bells and whistles on the brand new van that I was purchasing.
So now I have to drive my van around with my children in it and wait for the transmission to fail completely before I can get it fixed. I just pray that it does not happen somewhere where we could be in danger. It seems like a waste of money to purchase a warranty that does not fix problems that arise.
I have had other Honda’s in the past and have never had an issue with getting warranty work, let alone transmission issues. I am sorry that this is how McGrath and Honda are choosing to do business now.
