My vans check engine light was on. The error about the spark plugs didn’t make sense unless it was a defective plug. My oil was extremely low, almost empty, it didn’t make sense since I wasn’t due, I was at 20%. It is not leaking. Three visits ago I had my olio changed to see if that would make a difference. I read about odesseys having oil consumption issues. I mentioned this when I dropped it off for service. Honestly didn’t know what to do so I had the expensive plug change and valve adjustment. I asked for the spark plugs so I can see if there is a defect. Well there is a note on one that there is oil. This is a bigger problem and an engine defect. My paperwork has a note about a possible engine issue. So just just paid a lot of money for a band aid. It’s fine now but when will this happen again? How does Honda plan to correct this defect and am I safe driving it now? I love my Honda van, I’m disappointed with the service and follow up about a potential engine issue.
I feel like I was totally disregarded as a customer. My vehicle was towed in on 5/10/21 due to engine failure, which was later diagnosed as the #4 piston breaking, causing it to cease in the cylinder. I believe your dealership diagnosed the problem within two days. At which point I was told the engine would have to be replaced and I should have the car back within a week. I didnt think that turn around time was accurate but I'm not a mechanic so I took Margarita's(service rep) word on that. A week passed and I hadn't heard back from anyone. I called the dealership and left a voice mail for Margarita asking if I could be accommodated with a loaner vehicle. She never responded. A week went by and I went to the dealership and spoke with Margarita about the status of my vehicle. She told me a part was on back order and it should be here in a week. I replied okay and then ask can I be accommodated with a loaner vehicle. I'm using my daughter's car and she's about to set off to college therefore I need to get her car back. Margarita immediately begins to tell me, if you look at your contract we don't have to give you a loaner vehicle but I'll talk to my service manager and see what he says. To me the disregard to my situation was untimely and unjustified. I kept all the services on my vehicle up to date my car on has 50000 miles and was in great running condition but she treated me as if I did something wrong. She ran into her managers office and ran out stating we'll call you tomorrow. Two more weeks went by (without a call) and I never heard a word. Finally I went to the dealership again and was approached by Arnie the SERVICE SUPERVISOR. I explained how I was treated by his staff and quickly chimed in stating oh yeah we sent that to corporate and we're still waiting for a reaponse, but I'll go ahead and push it through. I appreciated that portion of my experience, but why did I have to wait for so long. From what was explained to me it was some defect the couldn't explain, just a freak accident of sorts. But nevertheless it left me without transportation. I'm a law enforcement officer, I get up and I go to work everyday to protect people. Honda prides itself on its reputation of not only making a good product, but also customer service. HELPFUL FRIENDLY HONDA DEALER,I didn't get any of that. There was no help for me until I practically begged for it. I was never updated on my vehicle status, it was always me calling on to hear next week. We live in California were cars are essential, so yeah it can be stressful when your car is gone for a month and a half. But I'm sure this will go into your who cares file. Anyway, have a nice day.
