Unfortunately, I am very disappointed with Toyota of Bourbonnais service department. I was informed that the 2021 Tacoma OEM Tonneau cover that I salvaged from my previous Tacoma (that was totaled in an accident) could not be installed on my new 2024 Tacoma that I just purchased from you guys. Per Sean (service tech), all of this due to not having some sort of additional kit that is supposedly needed. I already purchased that kit from a Toyota dealership online. Having removed the cover from my old truck myself, I made sure I purchased all the missing hardware, but I was still told additional brackets and railing were still needed by your tech. My previous Tacoma never had any of this railing that your tech is telling me about, and only one bracket which I provided with the OEM hardware kit that I already provided and had given him. It is simply 6 OEM strike plates and gaskets, with all the appropriate bolts, one bracket that secures the cover to the bed and the bolt, one tonneau cover pin and those bolts, and that’s the entire kit. Not a complex install at all. I guess it’s really just about the dealership making additional money from the customer and trying to get me to purchase a new Tonneau cover and railings, plus labor costs, totaling more than $3,000. What a shame, looks like I’ll have to install the cover through a competitor in order to avoid having to pay thousands of dollars to have your dealership install it for me. I really thought if any place could install this for me, it would have to be the local Toyota dealership, apparently, I was wrong.
